Cave Escape

"Cave Escape" is a live production game utilizing 4 designers and 4 artists. The goal of the game is to escape the cave that is full of obstacles and traps to go home to your treehouse to your beautiful wife. We as artists had only 4 weeks to help get this game ready to publish, link to the Itch.io here -> https://aidanmayles.itch.io/cave-escape

During my first week working on Cave Escape, I spent time making blockouts and getting low-poly assets optimized. I utilized Maya and Procreate to make concepts for the door/door frame, bridge, rocks, ruin window wall, and the stalagmites/stalatites. I kept in mind when modeling the fly that it will be rigged along with the rope and vine.

Week 2, I worked on Uv'ing my assets along with helping my team troubleshoot Uv's to utilize as much 0-1 space along with minimizing visible seams. During that week, I also tried helping with animations, but I was unable to complete them due to personal issues.

During week 3 and 4, we planned how we were going to do our colors utilizing a color pop palette that we, as artists and designers, agreed upon. We, the artists, then started to think about how we were going to texture. We had previously agreed that hand-painted textures would look best so we had the designers pick out games and what style they wanted to allow us to have cohesive textures. During this time, we also had to rearrange the Uv's to allow for an easier time with hand-painted textures. I used a combo of repeating textures, atlas texture, and a collage texture all made from scratch using Procreate.
